Lancaster and Nelsonville Art Trip

August 27, 2013

Rockmill Brewery, Lancaster

A recent trip to Rockmill Brewery, located south of Columbus and within a stone’s throw of Lancaster, Ohio, specializes in Belgian ales and an incredible visual experience. The  brewery is located on a stunning estate with the Hocking River running through it, and a rustic tasting room with handcrafted furniture complemented by oil paintings.  It was a journey for the senses, well beyond tasting some incredible brews.  The estate includes a chapel in which a small art exhibition is on view.

Walking down the sloping hill from the tasting room, towards the forest and the Hocking River, is a modest chapel, perfectly nestled along the edge of the woods.  Within the space is a small exhibition of black and white photographs by Brian Kellet.  Independently experienced, it was important to have the sense of discovery of the art in this unexpected detour from the tasting room.
