Mask and Wig’s Finale

March 12, 2014

Last weekend, the doors reopened to a dark and noticeably more decrepit building full of vintage treasures.  It was another attempt to clear out a lifetime of costumes, books, records, furniture, jewelry, and other collections. With the first sale taking place in 2012, it was surprising to see the amount of materials still occupying the dozen or so rooms. Check out pics from 2012 here: https://daytonarts.wordpress.com/2012/10/14/the-mad-hatter-purge/

Betty D. Lemke, entreprenur, collector, civic leader, Betty started her costume shop in 1967 in her home and moved it to a she sold a large portion of the costumes and the Brown Street properties. (last information I could find on google). Pics from the last visit in March 2014 are below, but don’t do justice to the massive amount of materials in these large rooms.
